New Code for masonry in small Buildings
AS4773.1 - 2010 has been recently realeased. The code can be used on Class 1 and Class 10a buildings and provides prescriptive solutions for many of the more common issues encountered in the design of residential buildings. It is a welcome addition to the library of codes as the Masonry Structures Code often appears excessively onerous for domestic projects. The new code also prescribes better solutions than the BCA requirements for piers in single leaf walls, such as is common in domestic garage construction.
